Singapore Junior Physics Olympiad (SJPO)

Information for International Schools

International schools based in Singapore who wish to take part in SJPO should take note of the following:

Eligibility

  • Participants must be studying at an academic level equivalent to Singapore secondary school students (secondary 1-5) in the year of the competition.
  • Registration is through the schools only. The principal of the respective school must grant approval for participation.
  • Participating schools are responsible for ensuring that all participants are students of the school.

Procedures

  • Schools are responsible for coordinating registration, payment and invigilation for all participants from the school.
  • Schools are required to arrange invigilation for all participants from their school, at their respective school campuses. The Organisers will not provide any invigilators to schools, nor will monetary compensation be provided for invigilators.
  • Schools must adhere to the timing for SJPO and invigilate accordingly to ensure fairness to all participants.
  • There will be a trial session with details to be provided later. All participants are to log in during thre trial session.

Registration Details (SJPO 2025)

  • Each school must submit the Registration Form by Friday, 11 Apr 2025 via FormSG, with student particulars uploaded using the Microsoft Excel template ‘SJPO 2025 Student Details’.
  • Schools are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of information provided, including the spelling of student names as these will be used to prepare certificates, as well as the email addresses that are required for organisers to communicate with participants.
  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Replacements/substitutions are not allowed once names are submitted. Registration fees will not be refunded for participants who do not turn up for the competition, regardless of the reason.

The syllabus is available here. Only non-programmable scientific calculators are allowed (graphing calculators cannot be used). The use of all other electronic devices during the test, such as mobile phones, smart watches, etc. is also strictly prohibited.
